Tom Clancy's The Division Is Coming to the Tabletop Gaming World as a Brutally Tactical TTRPG

The intense world of Tom Clancy’s The Division will be adapted into a dice-based role-playing experience. A partnership has been formed to develop a TTRPG set within the series' post-pandemic setting. The project has been announced, with a funding drive planned to begin in April of 2026.

"This project aims to deliver the series' unique suspense, tactical intensity, and memorable setting to the tabletop, offering fans a new way to experience The Division through immersive storytelling and mission-based gameplay," states an official release.

Initial offerings will include a starter set, essential manuals, a GM screen, miniatures, and various premium versions.

Exploring The Division's Apocalyptic World

In this setting, a lethal pathogen known as Green Poison was released in NYC, sending the nation into turmoil. As the pandemic worsens, civil order breaks down and violent factions rise, transforming the urban landscape into a warzone. To preserve law and order, the authorities {activate|deploy] The Division, a covert network of undercover operatives. This is where the agents enter the story.

Work on the game has been underway for about three years, and it is reportedly finished. The forthcoming crowdfunding effort will serve as a preorder system to reach a broader market, particularly in North America. Manufacturing is slated to begin immediately following the fundraiser, with shipping projected for the latter part of 2026.

An Innovative Gameplay Mechanic: The GRIS System

An early look at the game's rules confirms it uses d10s predominantly through its proprietary GRIS system, encouraging a streamlined and strategic style. Players leverage skills or traits to assemble a handful of dice, typically between one and five d10s.

  • Instead of summing the total, participants select a single “result die” from the pool.
  • This dice is then compared against a set challenge number.
  • Rolling a natural 10 triggers additional bonuses, such as extra damage or enhanced aid.

Engagements Focus On Positioning and Situational Insight

Fights stress placement and situational awareness, reflecting the video games. Factors like cover, height advantage, or visibility have a direct impact dice rolls. This system is designed to reward teamwork and clever tactics over raw numbers.

A Thematic Wound System

The way injuries is tracked adds a interesting narrative layer. Agents have a wound threshold; sustaining too much damage reduces their capabilities by lowering the size of their dice pool.

  1. At critical condition, an operative is downed, but they’re not knocked out.
  2. They may still move and perform restricted acts, simulating the last stand seen in many shooter games.
  3. Any agent in this state must roll on a trauma table, risking persistent effects like shock or mobility-impairing wounds.

A Ready-to-Play Adventure

A free introductory rulebook is promised in the near future. It includes a pre-made introductory scenario called Ashes of Murray Hill. In this scenario, the group lead the hunt for a missing medical team and work to stop an assault by the notorious Rikers faction, who have seized control of that Manhattan district. More specifics and the complete product lineup will be detailed closer to the Kickstarter start date.
