The White Sox Secure Power Bat Munetaka Murakami on a Substantial Multi-Million Dollar Agreement.
In a notable move for their retooling roster, the American League club have welcomed Japanese star Munetaka Murakami, completing a lucrative contract bringing in the accomplished player.
Financial Terms and Added Benefits
The deal includes a $1 million signing bonus, issued within 30 days, in addition to salaries of $16M for the upcoming season and seventeen million for the 2027 year.
Additionally, Murakami's compensation can increase based on accolade achievements in 2026:
- A seven-figure bonus for winning the MVP award.
- Half a million dollars for finishing second or third in MVP voting.

- Another $250,000 for winning the top rookie honor.

In the semifinal against Mexico, he hit a game-ending two-base hit that scored Shohei Ohtani and Masataka Yoshida for a dramatic 6-5 victory. The following day in the final against the USA, he blasted a tying home run in the early innings, helping Japan's 3-2 championship win.
